Thermal Barrier Technology
Our iron doors are built with an advanced thermal barrier system designed to reduce heat and cold transfer through the metal frame and door structure.
A specialized insulating layer separates the interior and exterior metal components, helping limit direct metal-to-metal contact. This design improves energy efficiency and helps maintain more consistent indoor temperatures throughout the year.
Energy Performance (U-Value & R-Value)
Energy performance is commonly measured using U-Values and R-Values.
U-Value measures how much heat passes through a door.
Lower numbers indicate better insulation and energy efficiency.
R-Value measures resistance to heat transfer.
Higher numbers indicate stronger insulation performance.
Quality iron doors with insulated cores and thermal barriers help improve energy efficiency while maintaining the strength and durability of steel construction.
Magnetic Stainless Steel Screens
Optional magnetic stainless steel screens are available for doors with operable glass panels.
These screens install neatly between the glass and decorative ironwork, allowing you to enjoy fresh air while keeping insects out. The screens feature a durable frame that is color-matched to the door and can easily be removed for cleaning or storage when not in use.
Low-E Glass
Low-E (Low-Emissivity) glass features a thin, transparent coating that helps regulate indoor temperatures.
This coating reflects heat away from the home during warmer months and helps retain interior heat during cooler weather. The result is improved energy efficiency while still allowing natural light to pass through the glass.
Impact Glass
Impact-resistant glass is engineered for enhanced strength and protection.
It is constructed using multiple layers of tempered glass bonded together with a durable interlayer. This design helps the glass resist strong impacts from debris, severe weather, or attempted break-ins while preventing dangerous shattering.
Impact glass is commonly used in coastal regions and areas prone to storms.
Reflective GlassReflective glass provides a mirror-like appearance from the exterior during daylight hours, offering additional privacy for your home.
From the inside looking out, the glass appears lightly tinted while still allowing visibility and natural light. At night, lighting conditions may cause the reflective effect to reduce.
Hurricane Package
Our optional Hurricane Package adds additional structural strength and storm protection to your iron door.
This package typically includes:
• Impact-resistant glass
• Heavy-duty surface bolts
• Reinforced mounting tabs on the frame
• Additional hinges for increased support
If your home is located in a hurricane-prone region or requires storm protection, this upgrade may be recommended.
